Civil Litigation

Civil litigation is the broadest area of law, describing nearly all contested matters that are not criminal in nature. In common understanding and usage, civil litigation is the process of submitting a dispute between two or more parties to a court, mediator or arbitration for resolution when the parties involved in the dispute are initially unable to resolve the matter amicably. The civil litigation process of resolving disputes between two or more parties is accomplished through filing a lawsuit or defending a lawsuit in state or federal court or by demanding arbitration or mediation.
