Yantis Automotive's founder, Buddy Yantis Sr., started the business in 1966, working on big trucks and diesel engines at his first location near the present Fiesta Texas. Buddy Jr. grew up there, learning the auto repair trade from his father. Buddy recalls. "he probably wasn't the best babysitter, because he taught me to drive as a little kid". Buddy Sr. was a well-known local racer on the circle track circuit, most notably at the PanAmerican Raceway.
